How does Aula help the NHS expand its capacity to educate its workforce?
Community starts within Aula's pre-learning digital spaces! Learners who work at the NHS can engage with classmates and educators even before their classes start.

How does Aula help the NHS expand its capacity to educate its workforce?
Coventry has become the UK's first higher education institution to be co-located in an NHS Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) with the goal of helping the NHS tackle health inequalities!
Where does Aula step in? Together with Coventry University we provide the digital learning spaces to support the onboarding of learners. The community-driven ethos of Aula creates a welcoming space to introduce the new learners, guiding them step by step on how the training course will work and setting a solid foundation for their future success. Aula’s scalable infrastructure enables Coventry to expand and meet additional requirements for further placements, and follow-on training modules.
Besides showcasing the different field studies they can get involved with, and sharing valuable information about being a learner at Coventry, the pre-enrolment learning spaces also bring potential learners together even before they formally start their course.
The social learning capabilities within Aula empower deeper engagement and help build a sense of belonging which is proven to improve learning outcomes and success. To help in such a mission, our community-first approach to learning lowers the barrier for engagement and interaction between classmates. They share questions and introduce themselves to classmates using the Community feed. This kind of early interaction leads them to feel part of a community of staff and learners, which is paramount in the Health Care industry.
Once they start the course
Learning is learner-centered, based on an enquiry process that leads learners to identify their own questions. A real-life scenario and the guidance of a facilitator set the scene.
Aula is a digital companion to support learners in their everyday learning on the job. Aula is the go-to place to discuss actual experiences from the workplace to receive feedback and guidance from both peers, be they colleagues or classmates. The opportunity to collaborate in this way advances the development of core capabilities to best prepare learners for life as a healthcare professional.
MSc Dietetics: a case
The MSc Dietetics space is an example of how small group learning is promoted.
On average, learners open 70% of posts in the feed, and 81% use the progress tracker to help manage their learning whilst on the go.
Such engagement, alongside the resources made available by the educators, make the foundation for the learners to formulate their own research topics.
"We are truly excited and hope that this partnership is fruitful for all, in particular the patients that will benefit from the increased knowledge, gained on the Aula platform, of these NHS professionals." - Kim Stuart, Associate Professor, School of Health and Care.
